Vassar & New York Stage and Film announce lineup for the 34th Powerhouse Theater season

Vassar & New York Stage and Film are thrilled to announce the programming lineup for their upcoming 34th Powerhouse Season, the annual summer season which brings to the Hudson Valley some of the most influential theatrical voices working today for fully-staged productions of new plays, workshop presentations of new plays and musicals, and readings of other works in progress. The programming includes new works by Spring Awakening creators and 2-time Tony® winners Steven Sater and Duncan Sheik; three-time Tony® winner Jason Robert Brown, playwright Halley Feiffer, among many others. The 34th Powerhouse Season will be presented at Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY from June 22 through July 29, 2018. For more information, visit powerhouse.vassar.edu.

Vassar trustees honor retiring chair with $1 million gift for Posse scholars.

Current and former trustees of Vassar College have thanked retiring Chair William Plapinger ’74 for his more than two decades of service to the college by sustaining one of his most cherished initiatives: a program enabling military veterans to enroll at Vassar through The Posse Foundation. Newly elected Chair Anthony Friscia ’78 announced that more than 50 current and former trustees have created a $1-million scholarship fund for Posse vets in Plapinger’s name.

Professors to lead free public walking tours of Vassar College history, May 12-June 23

Free public walking tours of the architecturally renowned Vassar College campus will be held on two upcoming Saturdays: May 12 and June 23. On each day tours will begin at 10:00am and 1:00pm from the front entrance of the college’s Main Building, and run for approximately 90 minutes. Highlights will include such historic locations as Main Building, Thompson Memorial Library, and the Vassar Chapel.
